Who We are
We are a congregation spanning over 40 years serving the local community, committed to sharing the message of Jesus Christ. We are a welcoming place where individuals and families can grow in their faith, experience God’s presence, and build meaningful relationships.
Our church is dedicated to biblical teaching, prayer, worship, and fellowship. We believe that we have purpose in God and that we are called to share His love, His mercy, and His grace.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or looking for support in the faith, we invite you to join us. Come as you are, worship with us, and discover a community driven by hope and love.
The first time you walk through our doors, you’re a guest. From then on, you’re part of the family!
Our Beliefs
We may come from different countries and cultures, but we are one united family of brothers and sisters in Christ. Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. At the SUPC of Reading, we believe the Bible is truth, the Word of God and the foundation of our faith. We believe it teaches us how to know God, live for Him, and love others. Psalm 119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
We believe there is only one God, and that is Jesus Christ who is God manifested in flesh. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory. We believe Jesus died for our sins, rose again, and is the only way to salvation and eternal life, and that salvation is individual. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures… John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
We believe that everyone needs to repent, which means turning away from sin and turning to God and living a holy life. We believe in water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
God has given His church spiritual gifts and talents to use for His purpose like leadership, healing, discernment, interpretation, and prophecy. Each gift is different and has its own purpose. All are important and we are stronger when we use our gifts together to serve God and others. 1 Corinthians 12:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Romans 12:4-5 4For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
We believe that being a Christian is a daily walk with God. We want to live in a way that honors Him, love others, pray, worship, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. We believe that God still works in people’s lives today. We believe in the power of prayer, spiritual gifts, and God’s ability to heal and restore. Phillipians 2:13 …for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. James 5:14-15 14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Most of all, we believe that Jesus is coming again for His church, and we look forward to spending eternity with Him. John 14:2-3 2In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Revelation 21:3-4 3And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
